Next & Recent Events - 100 Mile Meals

Next Meal - Fri 10th February 2012, 7pm
After discussion at the last 100 mile meal we thought we'd challenge ourselves and do something different this time... A Fregan meal.
Basically the idea is that we try to bring some food that didn't cost us anything, it could be home grown, waste food from skips/ asking in restaurants/ supermarkets, or abundance... anything you can think of. You could cook a dish beforehand or if you just manage to get an item, then we can try and create something with it on the night.
If you can't find anything please don't let it stop you from coming, it as much about getting us thinking about it, as actually managing to find something... but hopefully we will have enough for a nice dinner.
Hopefully see as many of you all as possible, if can't come but have any other ideas for future meals let us know. Ayliffe.

February 2011

A handful of people who had shown most enthusiasm for attempting a '100 mile meal' thought they'd better try and test the idea before going wider with it. They got together recently and created a tasty 4-course meal made mainly from local ingredients. The food was delicious and the discussion on local food was instructive and entertaining. The plan is to repeat this event regularly and to broaden the scope if we can find suitable venues and indredients. A menu from that evening is shown below - also a link to a map marking places we found to buy locally grown produce.
